Cheshire East Council “local lockdown” warning amid Covid case numbers

Cheshire East Council has warned the number of Covid-19 cases could see the borough facing further strict restrictions when the national lockdown ends.

However, in the past week cases in the area have dropped from 248 new cases per 100,000 people to 191 per 100,000, according to the latest stats.

Furious residents in Aston and Wrenbury say a firm has started constructing a controversial new development while its planning application is still being considered by Cheshire East Council.

They claim Concrete Panels Systems Ltd, part of Graham Heath Construction, has already started building a new concrete batching plant at its current site at Station Yard, Wrenbury Road.

The Crewe & Nantwich MP says Boris Johnson has pledged to support a northern recovery plan, during a meeting in which he is reported as saying “devolution was a disaster” in Scotland.

The Prime Minister met with Dr Kieran Mullan and other Tory MPs from northern constituencies on a Zoom call yesterday to discuss a “levelling up” agenda.
