LAURELS FARM, Crewe Road, Hatherton, Nantwich, UK

At ORSOM Handmade Cheese we create Cheeses with taste and a touch of personality.

Heaps of flavour, a touch of personality and traditional skills from local craftsmen. We still use the old methods handed down from generation to generation. Ever since the day our family business first flung open its doors back in 1957.

Without wishing to sound too old-fashioned, we’re proud to say that all our cheese is made by hand, using open tables and individual moulds.

Our team of skilled cheesemakers carefully make each batch of cheese to our secret recipes – each one perfected to ensure our cheese is just right, every time.

So, it seems great flavour really does come down to natural ingredients, traditional skills and a love for cheese of course!

Marsh Bank Mill, Marsh Ln, Nantwich CW5 5HH, UK

Rock Garden Cycles started in 2014, a 1 man operation with a focus on fair and honest bicycle repair, customisation and sales.

We relocated to Nantwich in the summer of 2017 and have grown organically from then onwards.

We offer a set service packages, as well as more individual issue resolutions, we won’t keep charging you if an issue is persistent, we will endeavour to find a solution.

We currently offer 2 bike brands, Orbea who offer a full range and Frog who specialise in Kids bikes. We believe in the quality of the products we offer and generally speaking don’t stock or sell brands who either haven’t experienced or received feedback from fellow riders.

Our focus is on the workshop side of bicycles, so if you wish to buy parts from the internet, we will happily fit them for you, we appreciate that the internet can offer exceptional value when replacing broken or worn out premium parts – we do advise to at least get in touch, you might be surprised how close we can get to UK based online retailers!

Marbury, Whitchurch SY13 4LS, UK

The Swan has stood at the heart of Marbury for more than 250 years.
But for a couple of years, it had to close before new life could be breathed back into it.
In 2016, with no real investment from the previous owners for many years, the 19th century built hostelry was really in a bit of a mess. Some ruthlessness was called for.
By April 2018 The Swan glided back to the epicentre of the village.
Marbury has 11 National Heritage listed black and white Medieval/Tudor buildings, including the Swan’s own outbuildings.
And a 16th-century church that overlooks the splendid Big Mere (See History Page).
Well, the resuscitated Swan fits well with all that.

Real ales, fires, books and patio
There’s a five hand-pull real ale bar (see Beers) and two main dining areas plus a Garden room, a new addition to the building, providing plenty of extra dining space. For cooler weather, wood burners flicker merrily in rooms which feature natural, reclaimed materials, wood panelling, beams and solid wooden or tiled floors along with antique furniture and colourful rugs.
And then there are the books; there are some 2000, supplied locally by Barn Books, scattered throughout – lots of interesting stuff, novels, history, gardening, cooking, whatever you fancy if you have the time. They sit alongside lovely old black and white photographs and classic pictures.
And a really cosy room for small groups is the ‘Cellar Room’ – don’t worry that’s actually above the beer cellar not in it – adorned with old whisky and wine bottles and more classic paintings. For the warmer drinking weather and alfresco dining, there’s a large paved patio with a rustic ‘log fencing’ touch.

Changing menu
In the ‘back’ we have an ultra-modern energy and labour saving kitchen with clever infra-red grills and something fancy called electric induction stoves to make for a pretty efficient food service. From here head chef Matt Marren will mastermind his regularly changing menu – including fresh fish daily – painstakingly developed to be based on honest, fresh ingredients but with his own cheffy spin. (see Menu Page).

beer dock nantwich.jpg
Swine Market, Nantwich CW5 5LN, United Kingdom

Since Beer Dock opened its doors on Crewe’s Nantwich Road, over 3,000 types of craft beer, cider, lager and real ales have flown off the shelves. The boutique bottle shop is one of a kind, selling products produced by breweries from all four corners of the UK, but also from across the globe.

However, the shop is much more than that. As well as boasting beers aplenty to take home with you or order online, you can also visit the shop and enjoy a drink with like-minded ale aficionados, and swap notes with very knowledgeable staff. In 2014, the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce “Start-Up of the Year” to further enhance the bar’s reputation on the Crewe social circuit.
