Cheerbrook Farm Shop in Nantwich has backed “local” again after announcing it is using only Aberdeen Angus beef reared on a farm close to Bickerton.<\/p>\n

The outlet made the decision to offer only what it feels is the best quality meat from a local producer.<\/p>\n

Bosses say the change to Aberdeen Angus is “a natural step in the development of this ethos providing a premium product with everyday value”.<\/p>\n

It means only Aberdeen Angus beef will be used across its award-winning butchery, in handmade pies, ready to cook range and on the caf\u00e9 menu.<\/p>\n

It comes from beef cattle reared on the Bourne family farm, at the foot of Bickerton Hill to the west of Nantwich.<\/p>\n

Brothers Robert and David Bourne work with the National Trust helping to sustainably manage the natural environment and restore one of Cheshire\u2019s few remaining heathlands.<\/p>\n

“We aim to produce top quality Aberdeen Angus beef using sustainable, home produced feeds and are pleased to be working in association with Cheerbrook,” said Robert.<\/p>\n

Unlike other breeds of beef cattle, Aberdeen Angus have not been historically bred to pull ploughs.<\/p>\n

Instead they have been bred purely for their beef, with a finer grain to the meat with marbling adding to the richer flavour.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Cheerbrook<\/a> said: “Our beef is prepared by our skilled butchers who are on hand to advise you, butcher and weigh your meat just as you like it.”<\/p>\n

Originally a pork farm, Cheerbrook sought to diversify in 2000 following a decline in pork prices.<\/p>\n

Boss Andrew Shufflebotham is currently a director of the Aberdeen Angus society.<\/p>\n

Cheerbook is now a multi-award winning farm shop, deli and caf\u00e9 employing more than 50 local people and supporting a number of small scale local producers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
