<\/p>\nSouth Cheshire breakfast company Mornflake helped spur hundreds of super-fit visitors to Nantwich for the launch of a countrywide series of triathlon events.<\/p>\n
Crewe-based Mornflake is a top sponsor of the UK Triathlon programme held at the Barony Park before heading off to 21 events up and down the country.<\/p>\n
More than 1,000 adult entrants selected to swim distances of 200m or 500m at Nantwich Pool, followed by a 21k cycle ride round the Cheshire countryside and a 2.5k or 5k run ending at Barony Park where there was a host of family attractions.<\/p>\n
More than 300 children also took part with shorter distances for them and entrants in the Ladies Pink Wave who were raising money for Cancer Research.<\/p>\n
On hand was Mornflake\u2019s much-loved vintage van Oatis which served up free porridge to competitors with a choice of toppings including chocolate or honey and fresh berries.<\/p>\n
Oatis, specially kitted out with a kitchen, will now travel to various events up and down the country.<\/p>\n
Mornflake marketing manager Richard Jones said: “The triathlon series has been going for 28 years encouraging all abilities to challenge their fitness.<\/p>\n
“But it all began in South Cheshire and the Cheshire Tri still remains one of the biggest crowd-pullers of the series.<\/p>\n
“It was our pleasure to meet entrants from far and wide and keep them fuelled with our delicious oats.<\/p>\n
“There was a tremendous buzz on the Barony as entrants raced to the finish line, cheered on by families and friends.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s a wonderful event to be part of and our honour once again to present the medals.”<\/p>\n

The company will share footage of the event on its social media channels as part of a campaign highlighting the goodness \u2018Mighty Oats\u2019 and people who complete gruelling physical challenges after a breakfast of its porridge, muesli or granola.<\/p>\n
Richard added: “All the athletes we meet at the UK Triathlon events include oats their diet to boost energy levels.<\/p>\n
“Getting behind the UK Triathlon series is a great opportunity to shout about the health benefits of oats to a wide audience of families up and down the country.<\/p>\n
“We are proud to sponsor UK Triathlon which, like Mornflake, has its roots in South Cheshire and has grown into a countrywide event series encouraging all abilities to get fit.”<\/p>\n
UK Triathlon spokeswoman Zoe Steenson said: “South Cheshire is firmly on the map as home to the series and it was great to see many more children taking part this year. Their numbers were up by a third.”<\/p>\n
Mornflake is also a major supporter of the Nantwich Show and Nantwich Food Festival.<\/p>\n
