Local care providers InSafeHands, Right at Home and Richmond Village Nantwich have teamed up to help create a dementia friendly community.<\/p>\n
They are working Cheshire East Council, local businesses, and faith and community groups in the initiative to increase awareness of the condition in Nantwich.<\/p>\n
Now they are calling and many more to support the campaign to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding around dementia.<\/p>\n
Organiser Lynn Lurcock said: “Already we are planning events and have achieved support from local Nantwich businesses\/volunteers, who are working together to promote this initiative.<\/p>\n
“The members are made up of like-minded individuals whose lives and work are community and caring focused.<\/p>\n
“This is a true partnership approach including care providers, Cheshire Police, churches, Age UK Cheshire, carers and local patient representatives.”<\/p>\n
Ways you can support the dementia friendly Nantwich campaign:
\n– Learn about understanding memory problems – this can be people in shops, bus drivers, friends and family , to help provide your caf\u00e9, pub, book or dress shop staff the basics of what dementia is all about and for FREE
\n– Consider clear messages and signposting so people know where they are going
\n– Display clearly written information on things like bus timetables, promotional leaflets\/menus
\n– Become an active member of the campaign
\n– Shout about your own dementia friendly services or activities and share so they can be shared with people experiencing and living with dementia<\/p>\n
“Dementia touches the lives of so many people across the country and in our town,” added Lynn.<\/p>\n
“Help us to reduce those experiencing loneliness and social exclusion in Nantwich.”<\/p>\n
