A former mental health nurse re-lived memories of her late husband after receiving a carer\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n

Kathleen Woodbridge, known as Kath, achieved one of her personal goals and was the second wish granted in Right at Home UK\u2019s “tin-full of wishes” campaign.<\/p>\n

Nominated by her carer Malaynie, Kath spent a day at the famous Liverpool Albert Dock, where she was treated as a VIP guest at The Beatles Story, Liverpool, before enjoying a boat tour of the city, complete with afternoon tea.<\/p>\n

Her wish was to explore new cities and relive some of her most treasured memories involving her late husband.<\/p>\n

Kath, who worked as a mental health nurse for over 25 years, lost her husband Les just a couple of months before they were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.<\/p>\n

She was nominated as she inspired her Malaynie with her strong and positive outlook, after losing the love of her life and spending an extended period of time in hospital.<\/p>\n

Receiving four care visits a day from Right at Home, Kath has worked with carers to make improvements to her physical and mental health over the past year.<\/p>\n

Her care team has come to be like extended family so it was great she could spend the day with Malaynie.<\/p>\n

Kath said: “I loved dancing when I was younger \u2013 rock and roll dancing especially.<\/p>\n

“I remember watching The Beatles in Stoke, we danced all night \u2013 some of the best nights of my life.<\/p>\n

“Me and Les loved going away together, seeing the world.<\/p>\n

“We were on big fancy cruise ships. I\u2019d go anywhere with Les.<\/p>\n

“I lost him just under seven years ago, but it still feels like yesterday \u2013 it never gets any easier.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019d have loved coming here today with me but I think he\u2019s watching over us.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve had a wonderful day \u2013 I\u2019ve enjoyed every part of it.<\/p>\n

“The museum and the barge \u2013 seeing all of Liverpool it\u2019s been really fantastic to be out enjoying myself again.”<\/p>\n

Ben Selby, owner of Right at Home South Cheshire<\/a>, said: “I\u2019m so proud of the lengths that our CareGivers have gone to, to help Kath, and also of Kath for the incredible progress she has made in such a short time.<\/p>\n

“This is just one example of some of the amazing stories we get to listen to each day and I feel lucky to be able to be a part of a network that is truly making dreams come true.”<\/p>\n

The campaign, which celebrates a decade of Right at Home UK making a difference, still has eight wishes of the total of ten left to grant – keeping in line with the theme of the ten year anniversary of the homecare provider.<\/p>\n
