Staff and residents at Richmond Village Nantwich spearheaded the collection, which was boosted by employees at Sainsbury’s in Nantwich, local Cat Radio and Nantwich Police Station.
Three Nantwich residents scooped extra Christmas gifts when they won the town’s “12 Days of Christmas” hunt. The competition was run by town centre traders as part of a drive to boost shopping on Sundays in the run up to Christmas.
Police have renewed their appeal for help from South Cheshire residents to find missing Magadalana Whittaker and Haydn Mark Evans. Magdalana (pictured), 84, has been missing since December 23 in the Congleton area.

Scores of fans turned up to watch the South Cheshire George Formby Ukulele Society’s Christmas Concert in Wistaston Memorial Hall. The concert in front of 150 people included group, duet and solo ukulele performances.
National clothing retailer Fat Face has submitted plans to open a store in Nantwich. It wants to take over the former Ye Olde Vaults premises on Mill Street as it looks to expand the number of stores in Cheshire.

The hunt for missing teenager Haydn Mark Evans has been extended to Nantwich and the rest of Cheshire. More than 60 officers are searching for the 18-year-0ld (pictured) who vanished from a Christmas party at Carden Park Hotel, near Broxton, last Saturday.
Cheshire Police are urging people to report domestic abuse incidents over the festive period. Officers say incidents rise as Christmas celebrations end in alcohol-fuelled violence. There were 450 incidents of domestic abuse over the festive period in Cheshire in 2012.
Shavington High School pupils were given some expert help in their archaeology studies. Experts from University of Manchester shared their knowledge with the students studying the subject for A-level.
