A major road in and out of Nantwich was closed off temporarily by police after an incident involving a lorry. The truck was left blocking Middlewich Road, near Sainsbury’s superstore, with police cars guarding it.

A man who tried to rob a South Cheshire shop and was overpowered by the shopkeeper, has been jailed. Craig Hughes, 27, entered News Food and Booze in Crewe with a scarf covering his face and demanded money from the shopkeeper.
