Crewe-based firm Protein Rebel has scooped an industry award for its cricket and plant protein powder.
The product won the High Protein and Sports Nutrition Category of the 2020 Nourish Awards – dubbed the UK’s toughest health food awards.
Founded by Tim Boote from Crewe, Protein Rebel provides sustainable protein powders that are healthy for the body, kind on the gut and good for the planet.
Protein Rebel’s cricket and plant-based Reload protein powder in banana flavour won the coveted Nourish Award, which was presented during an online awards ceremony on 18 September 2020.
The Awards, which are judged by an experienced panel of nutritionists, health specialists and food industry
experts, celebrate and honour the best new generation health foods in the UK.
Tim Boote, Founder of Protein Rebel, said: “To win such a prestigious award just over a month after launching the company is a fabulous feeling.
“And for a panel of food experts to decide that our Reload powder not only tastes great, but is the most healthy and nutritious sports protein product on the market, is a real coup.”
The winners and runners-up were judged by nutritionists and leaders in the food, drink and business sectors including Melissa Kuman nutritionist, Tim May of NOSH books, Gareth Hobbs MD of Visionary Food Solutions, Susan Hay founder of Thrive Magazine and Margarita Kalna founder of the successful Free From Festival.
Diana Murphy, founder of the Nourish Awards, said: “This year’s awards attracted a high level of entries despite the current climate and remote judging was held during May and June.
“All producers who entered the awards are paving the way to offering better, healthy eating choices.
“We should celebrate with great pride those who are putting their stamp on the healthy food industry.”
Protein Rebel is spearheading all-natural protein powders that provide sustainable and healthy alternatives to the whey-based, sugar-filled and artificial sports nutrition and weight loss products on the market.
Tim added: “Our products don’t contain anything artificial and are free from sugar, gluten and dairy.
“We focus on providing quality ingredients that are naturally high in protein and other nutrients to support people’s fitness and lifestyle goals.”
