Nantwich-based Eatlean and Joseph Heler Cheese have made donations of over two tonnes to FareShare Greater Manchester.
Since joining forces with the charitable food distributor at the start of the year, Eatlean and Joseph Heler Cheese have collectively made four donations, totalling 2.38 tonnes, contributing to 5,676 meals.
The donations have been distributed across FareShare Greater Manchester’s network of over 250 frontline charities, community organisations, schools and local authority teams, to get food to those experiencing food poverty and hardship.
Eatlean founder George Heler (pictured, above), based in Hatherton near Nantwich, said: “When demand for charitable food donations soared we realised that we could make a contribution to help those most in need.
“As a family business, supporting the local community is at the heart of all we do and we are proud to be able to provide quality, fresh and healthy produce.
“In return, we see directly the impact each contribution has made. We are very grateful to FareShare for ensuring that our produce is distributed quickly and directly to these charities.”
FareShare Manchester Head of Development Miranda Kaunang said: “The impact of Covid-19 continues to bring hardship to many individuals and families across Greater Manchester.
“At FareShare we are working hard to continue our response to food poverty.
“The team at Eatlean and Joseph Heler have donated over two tonnes of quality cheese, and we can’t thank them enough.”
As part of its commitment to supporting FareShare, and in addition to its pledge of a minimum of four donations annually, Eatlean will also offer staff time to allow employees to volunteer at the Fareshare centres, when restrictions allow, to support food distribution and get closer to where the contribution goes.
