Broadband company LilaConnect has started construction of a new full fibre network throughout Crewe and Nantwich.
It aims to provide homeowners and businesses with lightning-fast, stable internet connections.
LilaConnect create networks by using fibre optic cables all the way from the signal source directly into the property.
Most other major network operators combine copper and fibre optic cables, potentially reducing signal strength.
Once the fibre optic cable is laid and the premises connected, subscribers can choose from a range of Internet Service Providers or directly from LilaConnect.
The company says its network will “future-proof the region’s digital infrastructure” and provide the stability and broadband width.
Customers who sign up for a Gigabit service can receive a speed of up to 1Gbps (Gigabit per second) each way simultaneously – up to 70 times faster than the UK average.
Brett Shepherd, Managing Director LilaConnect & VX Fiber Group COO Infrastructure, said: “Accelerated by the global pandemic, a fast and reliable broadband connection has shifted from being a luxury to an essential utility.
“But it’s much more than just streaming video and music or online shopping, it’s also about transforming communities with improvements such as better access to employment, education and healthcare.
“I’d encourage everyone who can, to switch to the new technology and take advantage of the many benefits that full fibre brings.”
The company says it has a “dedicated cleaning team” to clean up streets, pavements and driveways impacted by the new cabling works.
Construction is well underway in various parts of Nantwich including Brookfield Park, Shrewbridge Road, and the Cronkinson estate in Stapeley.
