Little Crickets nursery in nantwich

One of the oldest pre-school groups in South Cheshire has started the new term with an influx of new faces.

And Little Crickets, previously known as Nantwich Pre-School Playgroup, is preparing to stage an Open Day to invite parents and carers to look around.

The nursery has welcomed more than 40 tots to its purpose-built setting in the grounds of Highfields Academy, Cumberland Avenue.

Generations of children have passed through the facility which first opened its doors back in 1966.

Highfields headteacher Simon Dyson said: “As Nantwich grows, with new developments on the fringes of town, it is good to welcome new families and the children of past pupils.

“Our aim is to create a home from home environment so children can relax and be happy and their parents can feel as if they are leaving them with family and have complete peace of mind.

“The facility holds a special place in their hearts of so many local families and we take great pride in having been part of the Nantwich community for more than 50 years.”

The Open Day takes place from 10.30am to 2pm on Saturday October 5 when prospective parents and carers are welcome.

Staff will be on hand to offer information and there will be craft activities, food platters from the school catering team and outside play on a new turfed area.

Little Crickets offers funded places to two to four year-olds and 15 or 30 hours of provision to eligible families as well as privately-funded sessions.

Visitors who leave details during the Open Day and enrol children before the end of January will receive a special promotion pack including a Phonics Book and Costa gift card as well as a lunch club and free school meal voucher.
