An accounts assistant at Swansway Motor Group’s Fleet operation pedalled 300 miles in the Cancer Research challenge.
Nantwich man Neil Tinsley only discovered the pleasure of pedal power after he turned 50 in 2017.
This year, he has multiplied his efforts ten-fold, completing a 3,000-mile cycling challenge for The Christie.
Neil said: “I’ve been treasurer of the Nantwich, Christie Hospital Support Group for over 20 years.
“We organise fund-raising events throughout the year including Quiz Nights, Fashion Shows, gin and wine tastings and black-tie dinners.
“The sad fact is cancer touches almost everyone’s life at some time, in some way, and I’ve always tried to help in any way I can.
“Our support group was formed in 1993 and to date we’ve raised more than £425,000 for The Christie.
“Over the years we’ve donated to a whole range of research projects at The Christie, including The Manchester Cancer Research Centre and the recently opened Proton Beam Therapy Unit.
“Our most recent donation funded the purchase of nine chemotherapy chairs for the new Christie@Macclesfield.
“I started cycling in 2017, just after my 50th birthday, and last year I cycled 300 miles in 30 days, for the Cancer Research UK challenge; so, when friends suggested I do my own six-month, 3,000-mile Summertime Cycling Challenge for The Christie I decided to go for it!”
