From toastmasters to graphic designers, accountants to jewellers, personal trainers to bakers and gardeners – welcome to the new South Cheshire Business Club!
The club, which meets monthly in the Vine Inn in Nantwich, has been launched to offer a more informal alternative to bigger business networks.
Printer supplier and organiser Chris Highfield said the club was all about recharging your business batteries.
He said: “We are small and local businesses and proud of it.
“We welcome members who are in business for the long-term, who want to be part of a reliable and friendly business community, a network which customers can trust and depend on.
“This is no place for aggressive “Dragon’s Den” posturing and pretension.
“We don’t come together to show off our success or exploit others.
“We are not just in it for the money. Those are the values that give business a bad name.
“It’s for people who want to learn from others’ experiences too.
“It’s not elitist, its not exclusive – it’s very down to earth.”
The latest meeting heard all about how a seed of an idea sprouted green business shoots for Matthew Gough, from Crewe.
Matthew spent years in retail, desk bound, and found true happiness in the garden at the weekends.
“I loved working in the open air and found the office increasingly unbearable.
“I cultivated a dream, Then three years ago I took the plunge into the soil, and that seed blossomed into a full time passion.
“I started out with just a lawn mower, spades and forks and an old strimmer packed into the back of the family hatchback.
“Three years later I have three vans, five lads working for me and we are expanding fast, delivering both domestic and commercial garden and landscaping services.
“It really is a growing business.”
The South Cheshire Business Club meets the second Tuesday of every month at 10am at the Vine Inn in Hospital Street, Nantwich.
It is just £3 for coffee and biscuits and opens the door to a host of new contacts and connections.
