Nantwich-based company Everything Genetic has launched a Lateral Flow testing service for holidaymakers hoping to get abroad this year.
And the £30 service provides users with a ‘fit to fly’ certificate in as little as 20 minutes.
The tests can also be used for the return journeys back into the UK.
Until recently, holidaymakers had to rely on confirmatory PCR testing to allow overseas travel.
However, with PCR results taking days and with increased demand on lab capacity and dependency on postage services, the lateral flow service will allow users to self-test from home at a more affordable price.
Once provided with the kit, holidaymakers must send a video of themselves taking the test, along with a picture of their results, 48 hours prior to travelling.
Once results have been verified, and providing the results are negative, a ‘fit to fly’ certificate is sent to the user.
Everything Genetic CEO, James Price said: “Previously, holidaymakers in the UK have had no choice but to rely on PCR tests if they wanted to travel abroad.
“In comparison to the PCR tests, Lateral Flow tests are much easier and far more cost-effective for families traveling overseas, and, because they don’t rely on labs or the postage service, make pre-holiday prep as stress free as possible.
“With PCR tests, samples must be sent to a lab, where they are then processed alongside thousands of others.
“Essentially, you are at the mercy of the delivery service and the laboratory to ensure you have your results back in time.
“With LFD tests, there are a lot less variables.
“With our newly launched service, you simply video yourself taking the test, upload it to an online portal, and await your results.
“All the tests are analysed by one of our specialists, who then sends the results back within 30 minutes along with a certificate, giving you everything you need to travel.
