Applestump Records

A new music record shop in Nantwich has found a permanent home!

Steve Cook’s enterprise has been music to the ears of many in the town since he launched Applestump Records earlier this year.

Now, after launching online and staging a series of pop-up shops in different places, Steve has found a permanent home – a unit in Riley’s Garage courtyard on Barker Street.

And he plans to open for the first time this Saturday June 26.

Steve said: “Our trading hours will be flexible to suit the needs of our customers, so evenings and weekends to work around people’s jobs.

“The shop has a kitchen in there so the plan is to have a sofa and chairs and offer people a brew as they browse or just to sit and look at their new records and meet and talk to like-minded people.”

We revealed earlier this year how Steve had put his lockdown boredom to good use by launching the new music store, called Applestump Records.

Steve was so frustrated at not being able to buy a vinyl record anywhere that he decided to run one himself – and Applestump Records was born.

Steve, who hails originally from Cwmbran in Wales, said the closure of traditional record shops sparked his decision to launch the new venture.

He hopes Applestump Records, Nantwich will pay homage to the “little shop in Cwmbran” he remembers as a youngster 25 years ago.

“The shop specialises in new vinyl records across the whole musical spectrum from alternative to indie, folk, rock, hip-hop, dance, funk and soul.

“If I do not currently hold stock of something you want, I am able to order it from one of the half-a-dozen distributors I have an account with.”

The shop is also online at www.applestumprecords.com
