Linden Stores

A London chef and his partner are opening up a specialist food store in Audlem village.

Chris Bousted and Laura Christie will officially unveil their new Linden Stores outlet on Shropshire Street on November 23.

The couple moved to Cheshire with their son Ollie during lockdown and have been planning their new venture for several months.

Laura is the co-founder of the Oklava restaurant in London, alongside chef Selin Kiazim.

Linden Stores will be a family-run outlet serving interesting, well-priced wines and seasonal British dishes for 20 covers to dine in.

They will have an online offering for local delivery and collection from the shop of curated wine crates, including Christmas selection and hampers.

And there will be classes and tastings on offer once it officially opens on Tuesday November 23.

Laura, originally from the Wirral, will be front of house while Scarborough-born Chris will be Head Chef.

Linden Stores is named after the street Chris grew up on and the menu is a dive into the hearty, robust flavours of his childhood, including bovril, pies, mash, seasonal meat and a lot of heart!

They first launched it a few years ago in Islington when they lived there.

“This new incarnation is a bit of a return to the north and a big move,” said a spokesperson.

“Chris does hearty, soul-warming food like no one else.

“This really is hearty stuff for big appetites on cold winter days.”

The menu is set to include:

Chicken skin and cod’s roe
Pickled mussels
Black pudding scotch egg
Bubble and squeak croquettes
Psb, smoked yoghurt, peanut, crispy onion
Beetroot cured sea trout
Lamb neck, squash purée, cavolo nero, black current jus
Smoked crispy spuds, bovril Mayo
Yorkshire Parkin
