NHS key workers on Boughey lorry

Nantwich firm Boughey Distribution has paid its own tribute to COVID-19 NHS key workers – with this message on the side of a trailer!

The Wardle company’s lorries are now travelling throughout the country delivering a vital message of support as well as essential goods during the lockdown.

One of the company’s vast curtain-sided trailers will carry the message “#Thankyou NHS”.

And its first outing was to Leighton Hospital to provide the perfect backdrop for the weekly Clap for Carers initiative.

The idea came from driver Ian Ledward who developed it further with Operations Manager Steve Newton.

Together with Group Fleet Engineer Paul Brimelow, they asked curtain manufacturer W J Leech & Sons based in Bootle to produce the design.

Boughey’s Transport Operations Director Neil Trotter said: “Our trailers travel the length and breadth of the country each day and provide the perfect medium to get a message out widely.

“As a company, we wanted to express our own gratitude for the amazing care that NHS Staff continue to provide throughout the Covid-19 crisis and we thought that creating a dedicated trailer with a positive message would be a fitting tribute.”

Meanwhile, one of Boughey’s drivers who has only been with the company for a year, has reached the national finals of the Microlise Driver of the Year Awards.

Dimka Ivanova, of Winsford, has been shortlisted in the Most Improved Driver category and will now go forward to the final with two other candidates.

For reaching the shortlist, Dimka will be invited to attend a Porsche track day driving experience.

Dimka qualified as a driver in January 2018 and she was unanimously nominated by her colleagues at Boughey who work with her each day.

Boughey’s Driver Trainer Mike Snee said: “Dimka has achieved a 100% improvement in her performance data, a result of her simply listening to good advice and utilising fuel economy guidance provided by her husband, one of our experienced drivers who has always performed well in this area.

“She challenges the status quo. Her genuine hunger for new knowledge, high level commitment and enthusiasm to conquer any challenges she faces, make her a stand-out driver.

“Dimka takes her job seriously and wants to be the best she can be.

“She is very conscientious, placid, calm and takes everything in her stride.

“Her positive attitude, together with her courteous and considerate nature, ensure she is a real hit with both customers and colleagues. Importantly too, she always has a smile on her face.”

Dimka said: “It’s a real honour particularly as I have only been with the company for a year.

“I really enjoy my work and driving offers a totally flexible and adaptable career which means my husband, also a driver for Boughey, and I can arrange our driving hours to suit our lifestyle and to accommodate our childcare needs.”
