A Nantwich tech company which used 3D printers to make life-saving face shields for keyworkers on the COVID-19 frontline, is selling excess stock to raise charity funds.
Gateway Electronic Components has been involved in the 3D manufacture of components for use in face shields used witin the NHS and community care system for protection against virus transmission.
The firm has now fulfilled orders in the North West and Midlands, and has supplied more than 3,000 shields to more than 30 care providers.
Technical manager Josh Bishop said: “We have some remaining stock of these face shields and are now offering these on a first-come-first-served basis to local companies that may shortly be reopening to provide services to the community.

“These can be delivered to your premises if necessary and the website enables you to enter the address details, or alternatively these can be collected from our Nantwich premises.
“The £20 charge per pack of 5 is just sufficient to cover the cost of raw materials, however all revenues that we make from the sale of this remaining stock will be donated to a local charity.
“The details of this charity will be published once the stock has been depleted.
“If there is sufficient demand to justify further manufacturing of the shields then further announcements will follow.
