steven burgin - salon social media award

A Nantwich salon has been honoured for a second year for its efforts to raise spirits and keep in touch with townspeople through social media.

Steven Burgin, on Hospital Street, was winner of Joico’s prestigious “Social Savvy Salon” award last year and is runner up this year after proving a cut above for its campaign to 2inform, entertain and motivate” on social media.

Throughout the pandemic, the salon has staged initiatives to raise money for charity, keep local people informed on hair tips and reward team members.

They have taken part in sponsored walks, cut hair for local people fundraising for a cause and given talks to WI groups on styles to stay looking good.

American hair brand Joico staged a virtual awards ceremony where owner Steven Burgin was named runner-up in the award category.

Posting primarily on Facebook, the salon collects money for various causes including Charity Water which brings clean water to families in developing countries.

Now in its 21st year in Nantwich, the salon also supports Help for Heroes and The Little Princess Trust which provides free wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatments.

The salon uses the brand’s products in all services including colouring and deep conditioning treatments and Steve is a former Joico Business Manager of the Year.

He said: “To win Social Savvy Salon last year and be named runner-up this year is quite thrilling and a testament to all the lovely clients and local people who engage with us on social media.

“During the lockdowns of 2020/21 we stepped up our efforts to share our knowledge and expertise on how people can look after their hair.

“The feedback on our cuts and colours, and especially anything we do for charity, continues to be a source of great joy to the whole Steven Burgin team.”
