maths tots classes in nantwich

Maths Tots has been launched in Nantwich aimed at making maths fun for pre-school youngsters

The venture has been developed by primary maths consultants Sarah Skelley and Toni Priddey alongside Early Years primary school teacher Clare Forsyth.

The aim of Maths Tots is to give children an excellent foundation in the fundamentals of maths alongside empowering parents to know how they can support their children.

It’s designed to prepare for the Reception Baseline Assessment being introduced in September 2020 by the Department of Education to check the early maths skills of children starting school.

Toni said: “We are passionate about maths and think it’s vitally important for children to have secure foundations in basic skills to enable them to build on these.

“We want children to enjoy maths and to have a good understanding of number, pattern, problem solving and shape to enable them to start school with confidence and a love of maths.”

Classes are held at Imagination Lane in Nantwich every Friday and will soon begin at Small World in Tarvin.

Toni added: “It is also so important we help give parents the confidence to support their children with their maths, especially those who didn’t enjoy their own education and ‘dread’ the thought of helping with maths homework.

“By bringing their children to Maths Tots, we can help overcome those feelings at an early stage.”

The Maths Tots team hopes to start another class in Northwich soon.
