Broughton Arms - Paragon Group - Artist Impression

Sixty new jobs are being created by pub firm Parogon Group as work gets underway to transform and re-open South Cheshire venue The Broughton Arms.

Work has started on the derelict pub and it’s about to undergo a significant transformation ready to open late summer 2020.

The Broughton Arms at Balterley, near Weston, will become the eighth venue to be opened by the group with an expected opening date to be set for early August.

The pub will be turned into a contemporary gastro dining venue.

Huge changes will be taking place over the next few months including demolition of the existing tired function dining room along with the toilets and outbuildings.

Designers have retained the important and historic part of the pub and have added a new and contemporary adjoining dining space, featuring tunnel booth seating, a central 360 degree bar and dining space for 120 guests.

Changes include a covered external dining space with year round heating and a semi-private dining space to allow for private parties or family functions.

Two feature trees inside the dining space will create an “outside/in” atmosphere.

The new design includes upgrades to toilet facilities, a car park extension and new kitchen which will act as the engine room to the business.

The finished theme will mix the oldest elements of a character rural pub with the very latest construction and design materials to create a fusion of old and new.

Managing Director of Parogon Group Richard Colclough said: “Following Parogon’s plan to acquire iconic sites, the Broughton Arms was identified as a hugely popular venue with so many loyal followers from all over the region.

“We felt it was time to expand the geographical reach of Parogon.

“And after seeing the potential that the Broughton Arms had at bringing a contemporary and stylish dining experience, it was an obvious decision to move into South Cheshire.

“Now we are ready to hit the ground running with the approved plans to expand and modernise The Broughton Arms and we can’t wait to welcome diners, especially our many loyal customers, into our latest addition for an incredible and new dining experience.”

General Manager will be Simon Hemmings, currently running the Blockhouse at the Sheet Anchor for Parogon.

Simon said: “I want to make sure that the core values of the Parogon Group are clearly demonstrated at The Broughton Arms and to me those are teamwork, quality food, good service and drinks with a good atmosphere.”

Food offering in the Broughton Arms will be a mix of modern cuisine and classics.

Recruitment will begin closer to opening with positions available in the kitchen and for front of house staff.

They expect to fill around 60 jobs in full and part-time positions.
