Crewe Market Hall

Crewe Market Hall will gain its first cheese shop and bistro with Nantwich-based producer Joseph Heler opening The Cheese Corner.

Showcasing the best local produce, The Cheese Corner is the latest offering to arrive at the historic Crewe venue, which was originally opened as a cheese hall in the 1850s.

The Cheese Corner will open five days a week, including late night weekends, serving a variety of cheese-based grazing food alongside traditional accompaniments and wines.

In addition to hot food, the counter will offer British truckles and other cheeses available to buy.

Joseph Heler Managing Director George Heler said: “We knew the Market Hall, which has served the community for nearly 200 years, was the perfect location to launch our bistro and shop.

“We have been able to bring cheese back to its homeland in Crewe, showcasing the finest local cheeses through The Cheese Corner.

“We are proud to now offer somewhere people can come together and enjoy our delicious cheese over a drink, as well as pick up something to take home for later.”

As an opening special, The Cheese Corner is offering a special discount.

“Anyone who shows this article at The Cheese Corner will receive 25% off any cheese purchased between 15 – 21 August,” Heler added.

Crewe Market Hall hosts independent traders offering food, drink, retail and diverse live entertainment alongside mezzanine space for local businesses to use for remote/hybrid working and impromptu meetings.

Hayden Ferriby, Commercial Director for market operators Market Asset Management, said: “It is fantastic to welcome Joseph Heler.

“Customers will love The Cheese Corner and their brilliant products and expertise will only enhance a market that has established itself as an exciting, vibrant place to shop, eat, drink where people enjoy live high quality live entertainment and delicious offerings from our superb independent and innovative traders.”

The market hall was an Ambassador of the Year finalist at the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s annual business awards and also been nominated for the Best Newcomer Award for the Nantwich Food Awards.

MAM General Manager at Crewe Market Hall, Gary Johnson said: “Crewe Market Hall was proudly built as a cheese hall in 1854 and it is great to welcome Joseph Heler, The Cheese Corner is a major addition for us.”

The Cheese Corner is currently recruiting serving staff and anyone interested in joining the team should contact retail outlet manager Daniel Reed via the The Cheese Corner.
