wych-bank rotary - Jeans and Jewels tiara winners (1)

Members of Wych-Malbank Nantwich Rotary Club have celebrated their first year of being chartered.

The club, made up of more women than men and with an average age of 49, has already raised over £8,000 for local charities.

And they have many more exciting events planned including a Gin Tasting Evening with Rodney Densem Wines.

The theme for the night was “Jeans & Jewels” with the competition for best tiara won by Sue Pritchard, with John Sims and John Poulson receiving prizes for their Rotary themed tiara and jacket.

Guests took part in traditional party games before being serenaded by the surprise evening’s entertainment in the form of Singing Waiters.

Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses including Living Pure Natural, McCarthy’s Salons, Darlington & Daughters, 34 Pepper Street, Romazzinos, Churche’s Mansion and The Swan at Marbury.

Organiser Jo Lowry said: “This was such a great night!

“We have really enjoyed it and cannot thank Richmond Villages Nantwich and Willaston sites enough for sponsoring it.”

Fellow member Clare Hoy added: “It’s been hard work, especially keeping the secret of the Singing Waiters but it has all been worth it!”

President John Poulson added: “I am so proud of what the team, and the club have done both tonight and over the past twelve months.

“When we started, we knew we wanted to be different and break away from people’s traditional idea of what a Rotary club looks like; you only have to visit one of our meetings to see how different we are!

“I cannot wait for the next year so see what it brings and to continue our fantastic success.”

The final total raised for the night was £1,274.47 which will be donated to The Lighthouse Centre in Crewe.
