Bridgemere Garden Centre has been sold by Wyevale to Blue Diamond.

It is expected to be under new ownership from September 17.

A spokesperson for the centre in the A51 near Nantwich said: “We’re pleased to announce that Blue Diamond will continue to trade Bridgemere as a garden centre.

“Blue Diamond Garden Centres are one of the largest garden centre retailers in the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands, with plants very much at the heart of their business.”

Cllr Janet Clowes welcomed the news.

She said: “I am so pleased the centre’s future, a key destination point situated in the Doddington and District Parishes, is secured.

“This will come as a great relief to the significant majority of the centre’s employees, many of whom are Wybunbury Ward residents as well as those in neighbouring Woore and Madeley.”

Blue Diamond are due to take over in mid-September.

The acquisition will see Blue Diamond increase its brand to 37 centres and brings the total number of garden centres bought by Blue Diamond during the WGC sale process to 16.

The site will continue to operate as a garden centre and nursery.

Alan Roper, managing director of Blue Diamond, said: “As a horticulturalist, I am personally so pleased to be acquiring Bridgemere centre and nursery, which I have known since the 1980s.”
