county group golf day at wychwood club

Major South Cheshire employer County Group drew golfers from across the region to its annual charity golf day at Wychwood Park.

The event raised more than £3,000 for Cancer Research after staff were inspired by the courage of a former colleague battling the illness.

Teams, comprising of 44 people from businesses such as Zurich, Royal Sun Alliance, Crighton Marketing and The Kinderton pub Middlewich played 18 holes.

There were prizes for the Nearest Pin, Longest Drive and overall team winner.

County Group marketing manager Claire Smith said: “Over the years the golf day has raised more than £40,000 for causes nominated by employees at our Crewe head office.

“This is on top of the fundraising that goes on regularly around the building.

“Never a week goes by without cakes being made and sold or someone fundraising with a sponsored run or swim.

“Their efforts underline our mission statement of giving back to the community where we live and do business.

“It fosters team spirit and creates a sense of pride in working for a company that takes its corporate social responsibility seriously.”
