The Swan at Marbury wins award

The Swan at Marbury near Wrenbury has been awarded “Gold” accreditation from VisitEngland, the highest available through the national Pub Quality Scheme.

The award was made after an independent assessment against national standards for excellence across the whole visitor experience.

The scheme, in partnership with the British Beer & Pub Association, evaluates pubs on criteria including food and drink quality, hospitality, atmosphere, facilities, and overall customer experience.

The Swan impressed judges across all areas, securing the coveted Gold standard.

It is the latest in a string of national and regional recognitions, with previous honours including Best Pub in the North West and Best Pub in Cheshire at the Pub & Bar Awards, Cheshire Pub of the Year at the Taste Cheshire Awards, Summer Pub of the Year from South Cheshire CAMRA, and a place in Sawday’s Guide Top 40 Sunday Lunches in the UK.

The Swan is part of Pubs Limited, founded by Jerry Brunning and his wife Beth, which also includes Basement 85 in Chester, The Druid Inn at Gorsedd, The Hare at Farndon, and The Black Bear in Whitchurch.

Charlie Holden, landlord of The Swan, said: “We’re really proud to share that The Swan at Marbury has been awarded the highest quality accreditation from Visit England.

“As a rural pub, it means a lot to be recognised for the standards, atmosphere, and experience we work hard to create every day and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our amazing customers and team.”

The Swan Walks have returned and take place every first Saturday of the month, to explore the countryside surrounding Marbury.

And the pub’s Beer Festival returns Thursday 6th August – Sunday 9th celebrating the best of British brewing with a handpicked selection of over 15 cask and keg beer alongside a selection of ciders, live music and fresh BBQ menu all weekend.
