I am writing to express my concerns ahead of the imminent opening of the long-delayed A51 Reaseheath bypass road.
After years of postponements, the road is now expected to open in June 2026 — more than four years later than originally planned, with the scheme initially due for completion in February 2022.
It has been a Nantwich road project dogged with delays and problems.
Now it seems the latest setback to the new A51 Reaseheath bypass is the wrong size road sign!

I am writing as a deeply concerned member of the public regarding the continued and extraordinary delay to the A51 Reaseheath spine road — the new north–south bypass intended to serve the Kingsbourne development in Nantwich and connect the A51, B5074, Nantwich Bypass and Barony Road near Reaseheath College.
Highways bosses at Cheshire East Council have laid the blame for the A51 Reaseheath bypass delay firmly at the developers’ door.

As someone who does not live adjacent to the new A51 spine road near Reaseheath, I write with serious concerns about the implications it will have on traffic patterns, journey times, and road safety – not only for local residents, but for anyone who regularly travels through the area, myself included.
The long-awaited Reaseheath Bypass road is set to open by end of August, highways bosses said today.
Work has finally been underway over the past few months to complete the bypass, which will also connect the Kingsbourne housing development to the A51.
