Councillors have voted to fight plans for 75 homes in Nantwich at appeal on highways grounds after hearing there’s “a ticking time bomb” caused by unplanned, piecemeal developments.

Nightingale Land wants to build the homes on fields off Broad Lane in Stapeley and to bulldoze a bungalow for access.

Plans for up to 75 homes in Nantwich will now be decided by a planning inspector after the applicant appealed against Cheshire East’s non-determination of the application.

Nightingale Land wants to build the dwellings on land in the open countryside off Broad Lane, Stapeley.

Campaigners fighting housing applications in Stapeley said today they were “disappointed” that an application for 85 houses off London Road was approved.

A Nantwich housing application has been deferred for a second time for a traffic assessment – with a parish councillor warning “until there’s a fatality, nobody’s going to take us seriously”.

The proposal from Nightingale Land for up to 75 homes off Broad Lane was deferred earlier this month by the strategic planning board (SPB) for a traffic assessment to identify any cumulative impact.

Pupils at Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School in Nantwich have received a donation of reflective vests as part of Road Safety Week, helping students get to and from school more safely.
