Cheshire East Council is considering plans to close its headquarters in Sandbach and operate out of its offices at Crewe and Macclesfield.

The council is also looking at proposals to move Macclesfield Library into the town hall.

If approved, charges would have been introduced in Middlewich, Alsager, Holmes Chapel, Sandbach and other towns in line with Nantwich, Crewe, and Macclesfield.

A tortoise found abandoned in the street is on the slow road to recovery at a Nantwich RSPCA centre.
