Ex Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace is urging Nantwich couples to quick step up to St Luke’s “Strictly Learn to Dance 2014” event.

The hospice is running the contest after a successful campaign last year, which saw the winners crowned at a Nantwich Civic Hall finale.

Organisers are hoping to attract 20 couples who will be transformed into confident dancers in three months.

Flavia, who appeared on the popular BBC1 from 2006-2012, has a word of encouragement for anyone considering signing up in aid of the hospice.

FlaviaShe said: “Dancing is a fantastic way to keep fit, stay healthy, motivated and have fun at the same time.

“You can show your support to a very worthwhile cause so put on your dancing shoes and get on the dance floor.”

From January 29, regular Rock n Roll and Waltz tuition of 45 minutes a week will be given to all the participants in Crewe every Wednesday evening.

This tuition is given free of charge by Mark & Holly, from Dancebasics dance school.

The event will culminate in a grand final at Nantwich Civic Hall on Sunday May 18 when judges will watch couples dance and pick an overall winner.

Participants will be asked to register and commit to raise a minimum sponsorship of £600 per couple.

Tickets for the final will be on sale from late April to raise money for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice.

Nicola Jepson, senior fundraising events coordinator, said: “This event has been a tremendous success over the last two years and has raised over £40,000 for the hospice.

“As well as being a successful fundraiser it is very much a fun event to take part in.

“We’re delighted to have Flavia’s support and I hope her words of encouragement will inspire couples to take to the floor for a wonderful cause.”
