A Nantwich Towm fan is among 10 supporters to make it through to the Evo-Stik League “Supporter of the Year” contest.

Loyal Dabber Ian Garnett says it is a “great honour” to be named among the finalists, which will soon be reduced to five.

Ian, who is the current Nantwich Town Supporter of the Year, follows his beloved team around the country.

And his dedication has even been noted by locals of his other real love – on the island of Crete!

Ian was among the hardy 93 Nantwich fans who made the journey last week to AFC Fylde where the team lost 4-0 on a wet and windy Tuesday night in the Doodson Sport Cup.

The Fylde announcer was so impressed, Ian and his fellow supporters were awarded the “Man of the Match” by home officials for their unstinting backing of their team.

Ian, 30, and a joiner by trade, supports his favourite club in more ways than one.

He helped set up the new Supporters Club, runs the half-time raffle, built a hut for programme sellers, and organises away travel for the Dabbers travelling “army”.

“It’s a great honour to be named among the ten finalists,” says Ian.

“I love Nantwich Town Football Club and its fans.

“Supporting the club is a big part of my life and I’m always happy to help out in any way I can and, of course, spread the word.”

His passion for the Dabbers follows him around the world, including his favourite holiday destination Crete.

The owners of Andreas Apartments in Gouves know all about Ian’s dedication.

Their daughter Anastasia got together with a friend to handcraft a necklace especially for their footie-crazed holidaymaker – which depicts the Nantwich Town FC badge.
