Rookery Tavern and Wistaston Athletic both provided shocks in the 1st Round of the Crewe Regional League President’s Cup.

League One Wistaston Ath scored twice in extra time to beat Premier Division Ocean 4-3, with Rhys Potter (2), Adam Lee and Jordan Smith for Wistaton with Mark Parker, Rhys Holt and Jake Edge for Ocean.

Rookery Tavern eventually won 5-4 on penalties against AFC Barkode after the teams were locked at 3-3 after 90 mins and 5-5 after extra time.

Ricky Taylor scored a hat-trick with Darren Pryor and Warren Mulvey scoring for Rookery and Mike Walton 2, Ben Barker, Rob Taylor and Peter Robinson scoring for Barkode.

The other Premier Division teams had comfortable victories over teams from Division One.

AFC Leopard led the way with a 9-2 win at Audlem with Mike Blundell and Tom Butler both scoring four times with Jason Kerr adding the other. Pete Jones scored both Audlem goals.

Talbot beat Haslington 8-0 with hat-tricks from Ant Broadhurst and Ian Robinson. Rory Saunders and Andy Blud also scored.

Railway Hotel beat Santa Maria 6-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Lee Mellor with Tom Finch, Dan Lavalatte and Matt Cope completing the scoring.

Willaston White Star ran out 5-1 winners at Faddiley, having only led 1-0 at half-time, with Asher Moat scoring twice with other strikes from Mike Evans and Keiran Brennan. Joey Hilton replied for Faddiley.

In the only all Division One clash, Leighton won 3-1 at Nantwich YF with goals from Tom Edwards, John Hawkins and Gareth Blackshaw, George Johnson for the Farmers.

There were two league games in the Premier Division.

Leaders FC Semtex extended their lead with a 4-1 win over a depleted NHB. Danny Roberts, Malc Bostock, Jordan Amson and Robert Timmis netted for Semtex.

Sydney Arms and Square One shared eight goals in a tight, hard fought encounter with Vince Pownall, Craig Griggs, Paul Bowyer, Ben Herbert for Sydney with Chesters, Readdin, Wilbraham and Lines replying for Square One.
