Nantwich has scooped another Gold medal at this week’s North West in Bloom awards ceremony.

Delighted town councillors hailed the achievement and praised scores of volunteers and businesses involved.

Nantwich now has one of the best consecutive award records of any town in the North West.

Overall Small Town category champions were Congleton, and they will go on to represent North West at the national Britain in Bloom awards.

Other local award winners were Willaston and Wistaston, Audlem, and businesses including Richmond Village and Alvaston Hall Hotel.

Cllr Stuart Bostock told last night’s town council meeting: “This is an amazing achievement for our town, it has one of the best records of any town in the region.

“There were more than 640 entries in the North West in Bloom region in a wide range of categories.”

He also praised key groups such as Nantwich in Bloom and Nantwich Litter Group.

Town Mayor Cllr David Marren added: “The council gives Nantwich in Bloom a £20,000 grant each year so this is something for us all to celebrate.

“A lot of people work very hard to make this town look nice.”
