The Shires headlining Words and Music Festival 2025

Ticket sales are flying for the 18th Words And Music Festival which returns to Nantwich next month.

Organisers of the popular festival, which runs from October 13th to 19th inclusive, have described it as “our most eclectic bill ever”.

Some shows have already sold out, including John Cooper Clarke and Rianne Downey.

One of the headliners is The Shires – the UK’s biggest ever Americana / country act.

They are also the first UK act ever to be signed by a major Nashville label, and to receive an award from the American Country Music Association.

Their album “My Universe” hit No 3 in the charts and became the fastest selling UK country album of all time.
Known for their melodic songs and breath-taking harmonies, core members Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes are now international country music superstars.

They make their first ever appearance in Nantwich at the Civic Hall Friday October 17th.

Organiser Nigel Stonier said: “Tickets are selling fast for this show, it’s on course to sell out so prompt purchase is recommended!

“And as a bonus for Nantwich, support act for the Shires is young, emerging Nantwich born country artist Ollie Hawkins, who is rapidly making a name on the UK Americana circuit.”

Also at the festival will be well known comedian Rich Hall, who has for over a decade been a feature on TV shows such as Q.I, Have I Got News For You, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, and 8 Out Of 10 Cats to name a few.

The stand-up comedian is also a fine musician and his alter ego is spoof country musician Otis Lee Crenshaw!

Hall will perform a special matinee show on the afternoon of Saturday October 18th at Nantwich Civic.

Gruff Rhys, singer and front man with legendary Welsh indie stars Super Furry Animals, will also be performing the festival finale at Nantwich Civic Hall on October 19th.

Gruff has forged a parallel solo career that reflects his brilliant song-writing skills, superb voice and maverick spirit in equal measure, and we are excited to welcome him to the festival for his second appearance.

Famed singer songwriter John Bramwell, formerly lead singer and songwriter for Brit nominated band I am Kloot, plays Nantwich Town FC on Tuesday October 14th.

And Danny and the Champions of the World, an award-winning heartland rock band, are set to take the roof off Nantwich Town FC on Thursday October 16th.

Full details, and tickets, are available via the festival hotline 07837 626436 or from the website Wordsandmusicfestival.com
