Nantwich Town and Sandbach Town players chase the ball (1)

Nantwich Town hosted Sandbach Town in the debut fixture of the new David Salmon Memorial Trophy at the Weaver Stadium.

It needed penalties to decide a victor after the score after 90 minutes was 2-2.

In normal time, the scorers for Nantwich Town were Lee McGuiness and Mark Chandler. Dom Vernon and Jake Tew scored for Sandbach.

It was a real Sunday league penalty shootout as only three penalties were score, but it was Sandbach who held their nerve to take a 1-2 victory from the spot and progress to the next round.

NHB did not need penalties to progress in the preliminary round of Division One Cup as they put 10 goals passed Crewe Rovers.

Nick Ball and Frank Farrington both scored braces for the home side.

The other six goal scorers were James Herraty, Jimmy Studley, Owen Cookson, Joe Plumbley, James Thorburn and Ben Starkey.

NHB will now progress to the First Round Proper, the draw will take place at the next general meeting.

In the Premier Division, one of the league’s many Barony derbies took place as Nantwich Pirates hosted Cheshire Cat immediately after the reverse fixture which took place last week.

This game was closer than last week’s encounter, as the Pirates came out 3-1 victors.

Joey Hilton, Nathan Cotterill and Liam Heyes Porter got the goals for the home side. Steve Johnson got the goal for the Cat.

Raven Salvador hosted Winsford over 3 at the Brittles, and both teams were closely poised at half-time as the score was 1-1 after 45 minutes.

The second half had more goals than the first but was equally tight. It was the home side who eventually came out on top in a 3-2 victory.

Nick Raymond, Tom Edge and Jamie Baker scored the goals for the victors, and Ashley Rice scored both goals for Winsford.

In Division 1, AFC Dishers continued their winning streak as they beat White Horse in what was a close and entertaining game.

Ben Reddock scored all four goals for the home side as he mounts a serious challenge to win the league’s golden boot. Josh Preston and Alfie Spruce scored for the Horse.

White Horse were pushing in the closing stages, but despite hitting the crossbar, were unable to get themselves back in the game.

Inter Arena hosted Audlem in a high intensity game at sir William Stanier.

Audlem had the better of their opponents in the first half and went in at the break 0-3 up.

Inter Arena looked the more likely for much of the second half, bit could only manage one goal for their efforts.

Callum Edwards scored a brace for Audlem, Dan Sirle and Tyler Griffiths also contributed with goals.

The Inter Arena goal was scored by Billy Jani.

Two of the three Crewe Regional Sunday League clubs – George & Dragon and Lostock Gralam – progressed to the next round of the Cheshire FA Sunday challenge Cup with 2-3 away victories.
