gary johnson walk for nantwich town campaign

Nantwich Town General Manager Gary Johnson has completed an epic 84-mile Hadrian’s Wall Trail to raise funds for the club’s community campaign to replace the ageing 3G pitch, writes Jonathan White.

The current surface has served the club and community for almost 20 years, but now needs urgent replacement.

Gary’s trail took him from Bowness-on-Solway in Cumbria to Wallsend in Tyne and Wear, following the world-famous Roman wall across some beautiful but challenging terrain.

And he has already raised more than £1,300 with donations continuing to roll in.

Gary said: “At Nantwich Town, our motto is Football is for everyone – and we mean it.

“From three-year-olds starting out, to our men’s and women’s first teams, as well as disabled, visually impaired and walking football players in their 70s, we have over 75 teams using our facilities every week.

“But our 3G pitch is now nearly 20 years old and urgently needs replacing.

“This isn’t just about football – it’s about creating a safe, modern space that supports health and wellbeing across our community, now and for future generations.

“That’s why I walked the 84 miles of Hadrian’s Wall. No matter how small, every donation will bring us closer to a brand-new pitch the whole community can be proud of.”
