
A bird flu outbreak has been confirmed at a poultry farm near Wybunbury, Government officials have said.
The cases of “highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1” was confirmed yesterday (October 13th).
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs said it was a “commercial flock with more than 10,000 birds”.
A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises. It has not named the premises.
Defra confirmed that all poultry on the premises will now have to be “humanely culled”.
The 10km surveillance zone includes parts of Nantwich and Crewe as well as Stapeley, Willaston, Hatherton, Audlem and Shavington.
