IGA Awards - Wingate Centre

The Wingate Centre in Wrenbury near Nantwich has been named winner of the Beyond Inclusion Award at the Independent Gymnastics Association (IGA) Awards.

The centre had been shortlisted finalists in two categories at the awards held at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Judges said the award is for the centre’s dedication to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment, showing how a small, independent charity can stand alongside larger clubs while making a real difference.

Natalie, head of sport and recreation, accepted the award alongside gymnastics coach Nigel, who has been with the centre for more than 30 years, joined by members of the past and present coaching team.

Natalie said: “This award is a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone at The Wingate Centre.

“Our focus has always been on making sport accessible to all, and to have that recognised is wonderful.”

Founded in 1988 by parents who wanted children with disabilities to enjoy gymnastics, the Wingate Centre has grown into a hub for inclusive sport, arts, and recreation.

Its programmes, including Rebound Therapy, Disability Fitness, gymnastics, dance, drama, and community activities support confidence, independence, and wellbeing.

It also boasts Olympic champion Bryony Page as its patron. Bryony trained at the centre as a youngster when her family lived in the Wrenbury area.
