complaints - Cheshire East Council - Delamere House, Crewe 1 (Google)

Dear Editor,
I have just perused CEC’s website and looked at the Devolution sections.

It is certainly cracking on at a pace even though the latest report to the Shadow Authority Board on 30th January amounted to 218 pages, single, and with a few blank separation spacers.

It is worth having a quick look at the report and other older ones as well, they make interesting reading.

We now have an Interim Chief Executive and some other required posts have been identified.

It appears that a budget of £1.275 million was approved for 2025/26 which could outturn with a £246k underspend, this will need monitoring. It mentions that some contribution is provided by HMG.

Members of the new Devolution Board will be entitled to allowance and expenses, the level appears to not have been set. I would identify the attendance and apologises etc as reported in the minutes.

Whilst Greater Manchester is larger than C&W the proposed council tax for Andy Burnham’s office for 2026/27 is over £150 for a Band D property, this is on top of the individual level set for each Local Authority.

In C&W each area will operate as they do now with possible similar department and staffing plus budget setting.

It will be interesting to see when the budget for 2026/27 is explained plus what the proposals will be for 2027 and onwards.
