Police are probing a serious assault in Nantwich town centre in the earlier hours of Saturday.
The incident in the alleyway close to Home Bargains has left a 19-year-old man from Crewe in hospital with serious injuries.
Local authority CCTV alerted police to the fight at around 3am. Police have since arrested an 18-year-old man from Nantwich.
Police cordoned off the alleyway connecting Beam Street and Snow Hill car park for most of the day on Saturday (February 21st)
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said today: “Officers attended and on arrival they found a 19-year-old man from Crewe had been seriously assaulted.
“The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and was later taken to Leighton Hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Stoke Hospital.
“He remains in hospital at this time; his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
“Following further enquiries with the local Authority CCTV, an 18-year-old from Edleston was arrested on suspicion of section-18 assault and assault.
“The man has since been released on conditional bail until Wednesday 20 May 2026.”
Nantwich seems to go feral once it gets dark, Jed. Used to be a decent place to go out for the night. I don’t bother these days and neither do most people I know. Guess we’re all getting old as there always used to scraps and local wrong uns.
That CCTV was money well spent, I think with crowd funding there should be more areas covered. You would get me wandering the town at that time of night which is a shame for the young as years ago nightlife was fun, not dangerous
