New EV charging points are to be installed on Snow Hill car park in Nantwich, Cheshire East Council has confirmed.
Four charge points for electric vehicles will be set up on the far east boundary of the car park, by the pathway which leads through to Swine Market.
Cheshire East Council has issued a “disposal of public land notice” for Snow Hill car park.
This will allow them to grant a lease for a private contractor to access and install the points, which will be placed on the image shown bordered in green.
The notice says: “It is proposed that the property known as Snowhill Car Park Waterlode Nantwich will be disposed of by way of lease to allow the siting of electric vehicle charging points within the car park area together with such rights of way and easements over the land to allow the provider to place the equipment and associated cabling into any of the Council’s
adjacent retained land as are necessary to facilitate access to and use of the land.”
A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council told Nantwich News: “As per the plan which is shown on the council’s website, there will be four electric vehicle chargepoints at Snow Hill Car Park in Nantwich, providing charging for four vehicles at any one time.
“The disposal of public open space for chargepoints at Snow Hill Car Park is only to provide for the lease that enables them to be installed.”

Hmm
To TB.
an electric car is almost silent, it’ll be parked up for an hour or so ,while the driver spends money in local shops to pass the time.
The due dude to this is???
How very narrow minded and stuck in the past. We have to move on from internal combustion engines and the latest generation of small EVs are available at prices that either match or better older vehicles. Home charging is always best and cheapest but not everyone has the space.
Charging points should be on the outskirts of the town it’s congested enough.
Once again cheshire east is he’ll bent on destroying what is left of Nantwich.
Greg’s and burger king at morrisons too
How ridiculous R.I.P Our lovely town
A car park with no footpaths. Cars that drive at pedestrians on a 30mph potholed road through the middle with no designated crossing.
When will our elected councillors take safeguarding seriously? People before cars.
before they start anything extra consideration should be made towards putting in paths, there are none and vehicles use the area as a rat run to wall lane and the town from waterlode which is dangerous
What a complete waste of money meanwhile they refuse to replace road signs that have fallen down and the roads look like 3rd world. But its ok because rich people can charge their heavy EVs before knocking 7 bells out of the road surface with them again
