Batherton Lane housing Nightingale Land plans

Housing developers have unveiled more detailed plans to knock down a bungalow and build an access road for 75 new homes on farmland in Stapeley, Nantwich.

Nightingale Land wants to build the new houses on a field to the south of Broad Lane.

Access to the planned site would be by demolishing a bungalow on Broad Lane, the plans show.

There would also be pedestrian access to the south onto the narrow Batherton Lane.

Developers say they consulted by posting leaflets outlining the development to 288 households and businesses in the Broad Lane area.

They say they received 17 responses, including a range of concerns by Stapeley Parish councillors including retention of natural features, the settlement boundary, flood risk, access and highways safety, cumulative impact with
reference to Maylands Park, and air quality.

In a report to Cheshire East Council, developers say: “The proposal is for the demolition of an existing bungalow and the creation of up to 75 dwellings with associated public open space, which provides a choice of housing to meet the needs of the area, whilst respecting and enhancing the site’s environmental assets.

“The new development will have a strong coherent architectural theme, which positively reflects and enhances the local context and character.

“It will be derived from the local traditional building styles to create a sustainable place where people want to live
and be a part of the community.

“The design should respond to examples of local vernacular and distinctiveness from Nantwich.

“The development will embrace modern interpretations of local character and demonstrate this as a theme within the detailed design.”

Developers also claims that Cheshire East Council can no longer demonstrate a “deliverable five-year housing supply” and that new land for housing is a “pressing need”.

The report adds: “Nightingale Land has taken account of the views expressed by those who were consulted and has engaged
with the local community in a variety of different ways.

“This is to ensure that their opinions have been considered and acknowledging different members of the community will access information and respond in different ways.”

Residents can air their views on the plans until September 25 via the Cheshire East Council planning portal.

  1. If the existing new builds anything to go by, each property has 3 cars and the roads and pavements parked all over. Crammed in to maximise the plot anything but ‘traditional’ Nantwich character. 90% are travelling to Chester or Stoke for work, so much for the environmental impact. I expect all the hedges and trees will be ripped up way before they start building and mo real compensation for what is lost. I’m looking to move out of Nantwich as its lost the plot on housing.

  2. they will be the cash cow houses for the builder, well at least they will be paying massive taxes so I don’t have to bother now.
where are all the bungalows so the elderly can down size, where are all the small houses that are really affordable, where are the houses for the disabled no they will be 4 bed family homes exactly what elderly live in now and don’t want worlds gone mad

How can developers claim that Cheshire East Council can no longer demonstrate a “deliverable five-year housing supply” and that new land for housing is a “pressing need”. When there been literally thousands of new homes built in Nantwich in the past few years alone?

  4. Just what the place needs! again…
