Luke Goddard - manager of Nantwich Town

Luke Goddard has been named as the new Nantwich Town manager.

Goddard takes over from Jon Moran and will resume his partnership with interim boss Marc Feighery who moves to the new position of Head Coach.

Dabbers Chairman Jon Gold said: “Luke is well known to Dabbers supporters.

“The success, development and growth he has brought to a number of local clubs in recent years, working with limited resources, is something that has earned him a great reputation.

“I would like to thank Ian Egerton and the directors of Northwich Victoria for the gracious way that they have enabled our approach to transition smoothly, especially given the position at the top of the league that Luke leaves them in.

“We sincerely hope that they continue on to promotion to the NPL West”.

Goddard said: “I must say a big thank you to the Chairman Jon Gold and the rest of the board for giving me this exciting opportunity to manage Nantwich Town Football Club into a new era.

“Whilst it’s with a heavy heart that I leave Northwich Vics, which is an incredible club and in a fantastic position, the opportunity to manage my hometown club is something I have coveted for a long time and it’s an opportunity I just couldn’t turn down.

“I’ve had a close affinity with the club from being in the youth team after my release from Stoke City as a 15-year-old to being in the terraces at Cammel Laird in that famous FA Vase campaign and at the final at St Andrews.

“It’s been a long journey of hard work to earn this opportunity I now have, but one that I fully intend on ensuring making the most of to bring further success & progress.

“The history, facilities and even greater further potential is there for all to see still at this wonderful football club.

“The challenge is clear to bring stability over the coming years, build our new history but importantly in an aligned ambition and approach together, from the board, the volunteers, staff, players and our excellent supporters.

“The transition will be smooth, as I have a very strong existing partnership with Marc (Feighery) who has done an amazing job.

“And there is already a fantastic back room staff in place, so with the support of Cal, Miles and everyone else, we are both excited to now put focus on the future starting this week to see how far we can push this season with a talented group of players, and beyond into the summer.

“As I always repeat to supporters, let’s enjoy the journey through the peaks and troughs of that, but importantly be true to our values and ensure we strive for continuous progress in all areas!”
