Nantwich Food Festival organisers are inviting local residents to find out more about volunteering for the festival in 2026.
This year’s three-day event takes place on Friday 4th to Sunday 6th September.
Plans are well underway and organisers are keen to recruit enough volunteers to cover the tasks needed for such a large event.
New joint volunteer co-ordinators Andrew and Linda Martin have arranged a Welcome Evening for new volunteers.
This will take place on Thursday 23rd April at the Wickstead Arms, on Mill Street, Nantwich, from 7pm for two hours.
Light refreshments will be available and existing volunteers are welcome.
Festival organisers and directors will be on hand to answer any queries but there is no obligation to sign up as a volunteer.
Linda said: “The idea of this evening is to create a welcoming, relaxed environment in the friendly Wickstead Arms, so that anyone who might be interested in volunteering for the Festival can hear more about what this could entail.
“We need almost 100 volunteers to cover all the work leading up to the Festival and over the weekend itself, so that is a huge requirement!
“If you are new to Nantwich, this would be an ideal opportunity to develop a social network while giving some time to a fantastic and multi-award winning community event.
“You could volunteer for however much or little time you can manage, be that a couple of hours over the Festival weekend or perhaps by taking on a more substantial role throughout the year.”
Tasks include directing exhibitors to pitches so unloading and setting out of goods is as streamlined as possible.
Volunteers also put up signage and give information and advice to visitors.
They also ensure all public areas are welcoming, clean and tidy and that all exhibitor and public waste is recycled appropriately.
Additional marquee managers are also needed to ensure everything runs smoothly in both of the two large food courts and the town centre area.
Information, support and training are all provided free and experienced managers are always at hand.
Linda added: “We have volunteers of all ages – from teens to 80+ year olds, who come from all backgrounds and interests.
“So we can use whatever skills and experience you may have.
“It’s a very enjoyable and rewarding way of supporting your local community while ensuring that all visitors are safe and have a great time.
“If you would like to hear more about how to join us as a volunteer and become part of the success that is Nantwich Food Festival, then just come along to the Welcome Evening at The Wickstead Arms on April 23rd. We’d love to see you there.”
