The National Dance Company of Ireland visited the Crewe Lyceum with their show Rhythm of The Dance, writes Claire Faulkner.
A rich celebration of Irish history and culture, this show was every bit as good as I hoped it would be.
There is something magical about watching Irish dancing, the atmosphere in the theatre felt great.
The audience clapped and cheered along throughout the entire show.
Choreographed by Dane McKiernan, all the dancers on stage made it look so easy.
But I can only imagine how much work, practice and dedication goes on to achieve this.
The production was thoughtfully and cleverly staged.
The backdrop and lighting emphasised the dance rather than overpower it.
Each routine and song took the audience further along the story.
The Emigrants Lament, Thinking of Home and The Irish in America were my favourites.
I also enjoyed the drumming routines and the sound of the distinctive uilleann pipes.
If you enjoy dancing or if you’ve ever tried Irish dancing, Rhythm of the Dance is an entertaining and beautiful show to watch.
