A Nantwich woman has completed her epic ‘End to End’ charity challenge, writes Jonathan White.
Karen Delay, aged 62, embarked on her 874-mile walk – clocking up the equivalent distance from Land’s End to John o’ Groats.
She raised money in aid of the Nantwich Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal to support the Armed Forces community.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the RBL was unable to place their usual poppy appeal tins around Nantwich.
Karen started her circular walks in Wychwood Park at the end of September 2020 and finished in Wychwood on Saturday February 20.
She exceeded her target of £1,000 and has raised more than £1,100.
Karen has previously raised £1,000 for the Nantwich Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal when she completed the Royal Marine Training course in Lympstone, Devon.
She said: “I’ve gone through four pairs of trainers and lost some weight.
“I am thrilled to raise more than £1,100 for Nantwich British Legion Poppy Appeal.
“They have continued to support our military and veterans – despite the fact the majority of British Legion volunteers are in the vulnerable category and have been unable to carry out their usual work to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.”
