Full plans for new primary school at Basford East submitted

Councillors will be updated next week on progress on the new Basford East Primary School as plans have been submitted for the proposed new build.

The school, which will be built on land off David Whitby Way, will cater for children from the 815 new homes being built in the area.

Cheshire East councillors have given the go-ahead for officers to find sponsors for a new primary school which should be up and running by September 2028.

Cheshire East has given the go-ahead for two large employment developments near Crewe which could create 2,900 jobs despite claims “grey sheds” will be a “blot on the landscape”.

Muse Developments was granted full planning permission for three large units for light industrial or warehousing and distribution on land at Basford East, near the A500.

New Shavington school delayed as developer goes into administration

A new primary school scheduled to open in Shavington in two years will be delayed by 12 months because a developer has gone into administration.

The 210-place primary school earmarked for Basford East was due to open in September 2025.
