A member of Wistaston Jubilee Tennis Club is to be presented with Honorary County Colours for services to the sport in Cheshire.

John White will receive the accolade from the Cheshire Lawn Tennis Association at an annual awards night in October.

Fellow members paid tribute to John during the club’s Finals Day which took place on the courts behind Wistaston Memorial Hall & Community Centre on Church Lane.

Finals results were: Men’s Singles Final: Richard Kearns beat Ben Reinhardt 6-1, 6-4; Men’s Doubles Final: Alastair Bain & Ben Reinhardt beat Bill Heath & Chris
Raiswell 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Open Doubles: Richard Kearns & Ben Reinhardt beat Chris Raiswell & Bill Heath 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Veterans Doubles: Hazel Dunn & John White beat Jean Proudlove & Jack Crisp 6-2, 6-4.

“It is nice to have a finals day after a successful summer season and congratulations must be given to the captains of the Men’s and Ladies teams for their organisation of the weekly games,” said club chairman Alastair Bain.

“The Men’s B team were South and Mid Cheshire Tennis League Men’s Summer Division 5 champions and went on to win the Les Beckett Men’s Knockout.

“The Men’s A team were promoted from the Men’s Summer Division 3 and the Ladies team retained their position in the Ladies Summer Division 1.”
