Richmond Village Nantwich and Stapeley pupils were at one with nature when they sowed seeds for Nantwich in Bloom.

Residents from the care complex joined forces with Broad Lane Primary School to sow wildflowers with the RHS.

They braved the April showers as the old guard welcomed the help of a handful of young gardeners to help the planting in the woodlands at Richmond Village.

The ground was prepared previously by Richmond’s Gary Lawton, who created four patches of land in the shape of a square, circle, triangle and diamond.

Doug Butterill, of Nantwich In Bloom committee, was on hand to make sure all went smoothly.

The flowers will now be monitored to see which patch grows the most and quickest and the children will be returning to see their plot.

Caroline Middleton, of Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School, said: “It was lovely to see the children working closely with the residents, and the afternoon tea that was served after all the hard work was delicious and well worth the efforts of the day.”
